Supervillain Solomon Grundy Calls for More Research Into Pediatric Cancer…..

with 2 comments

Memphis, TN-During a widely publicized press conference held today at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Solomon Grundy, a former member of both the Legion of Doom and Lex Luthor’s Injustice Gang, called for an increase in government financial support of research that may lead to a cure for childhood cancers.

“This is a real shock to the pediatric oncology community,” St. Jude spokesperson Jim Whitstock explains. “We really didn’t see this coming from someone so, well, I mean, he’s an evil two hundred year old zombie for pete’s sake.”

Grundy, a frequent nemesis of Superman, Batman and the Green Lantern explains “Me Solomon Grundy think children are future. Also me have niece with leukemia.”

  1. This plea for more public spending on pediatric oncology research appears to have resonated with the community of Gotham City, where Mr. Grundy has been engaged in criminal conduct on a regular basis. Bruce Wayne appeared personally at a press conference and stated that his company, Wayne Enterprises, will immediately donate $100 million to be used for pediatric cancer research, with a further commitment to donating an additional $500 million over the next three years. “I applaud Mr. Grundy for stepping out of his role as a supervillain and making such a stirring public plea for action. It is my hope that the funding donated by my company will lead to significant breakthroughs in diagnosis and treatment, and that these advances will allow thousands who have been so unjustly burdened so early in their lives to reclaim the joy of childhood and grow up to be happy and productive members of our society.”

In a brief aside, Mr. Wayne also added “I’m not Batman.”

Other well-known Gotham City criminals have also stepped up to show their support. The Joker briefly kidnapped a local reporter and took him to an undisclosed location so that he could issue a comment to the public. “I’m a murderous psychopath, but even I think we need to focus on helping these children. I mean, I’m evil, sure, but I still have a heart. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!”

Police are still working to determine the identity of the person from whom the Joker took the heart that he then handed to the reporter.
